Malaysia Pavilion Promo Video – Expo 2010 Shanghai China

Please click here to watch the video. (Sorry I can’t embed that)

This is the Malaysia Pavilion Promo Video for Expo 2010 Shanghai China.

Let’s put all video production, design or even architectural issues aside, I seriously wonder if the Malaysian authority understand the meaning for this Expo. This is not a TRAVEL FAIR, there’s a theme, a theme for this expo and it’s about – City (http://en.expo2010.cn/a/20081119/000001.htm). The slogan of the expo read “Better city, Better Life”, which the clearly tell the story. How can we make the city better? How can we make our life better through improving the city?

The expo is a platform for countries to show what they think and foresee the future (and how capable to make it better). From this video we can see it (Malaysia Pavilion) totally missed the whole point, and turned this into another tourist promotion event.

Sorry, I know it’s not fair but allow me to make a quick comparison with our neighbor – Singapore.

From the Expo 2010 official website – Malaysia Pavilion page – http://en.expo2010.cn/c/en_gj_tpl_8.htm

Pavilion Highlights
Highlight 1: Traditional House
Highlight 2: Mini-putt and Petronas Twin Towers
Highlight 3: Central Stage
Highlight 4: Lucky Draws
Highlight 5: Artworks and Foods

now let’s look at Singapore’s – http://en.expo2010.cn/c/en_gj_tpl_30.htm

Pavilion Highlights
Highlight 1: Unique Design
Highlight 2: “Hanging Garden”
Highlight 3: Environmental Protection
Highlight 4: Beautiful Night View

What a shame. (No matter how good the article is, when you missed the topic, you get a D.)

  • Whoever leads the project for Malaysia has a long way to go … I really think the wrong people has been given this job. I have only one word to descript the Pavilion. Any ordinary supermarket is better than that.
